Spectacular Wadi Rum (The Valley of the Moon) is 60 km (37 mi) to the east of Aqaba and it is the largest wadi (valley) in Jordan. In the West, Wadi Rum is best known for its connection with British officer T. E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) who travelled through the desert during the Arab Revolt of 1917–18. Whether you visit for a few hours or spend an overnight in a Bedouin encampment the beautiful, colourful canyons of Wadi Rum are a must to see and experience both by day and by star-filled night.
